International Shares Hedged Index performance

As at 30 September 20251

World share markets extended gains in the September quarter, buoyed by the US Federal Reserve’s first rate cut of the year in September, and the delivery of strong earnings reports by AI/tech firms. This helped offset ongoing geopolitical and macro risks which undermined market sentiment earlier in the year.

IT and materials shares were the best performing sectors over the quarter, while shares in the emerging markets, Japan, and the US outperformed shares in the UK and Europe.

The Australian dollar rose in value against foreign currencies over the quarter, resulting in the outperformance of the International Shares Hedged Index option compared to the International Shares Unhedged Index option.
